Dr. Paul Lovero is a modern-day optometrist and owner of Montrose Eye Care. He opened his practice in 2017 located in Montrose, considered the "Heart of Houston", which is notable for its hipster culture, art/food scene, and LGBTQ+ presence. His mission is to provide the highest level of eye care with the latest technology while also making sure his patients are leaving in style with any of the diverse independent eyewear collections represented in his optical.
The areas of expertise patients seek when booking with Dr. Lovero include digital eye strain, specialty contact lenses, dry eyes, and inclusive eye care. His goal is to ensure all patients feel welcomed and create a safe space to benefit anyone who comes to see him. He is part of the Houston LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Voted Best Male Eye Doctor for the last 3 consecutive years in OutSmart, a monthly publication serving Houston's LGBT community.
Dr. Lovero was born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas, and studied at the University of Houston, where he was inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and received numerous clinical letters of excellence in the category of contact lenses and family practice. He earned both his undergraduate and doctorate of optometry degrees and graduated magna cum laude. Today, he is an active member in the American Optometric Association, Texas Optometric Association, and Harris County Optometric Association.
He’s a licensed therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. Dr. Lovero also served as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Family Practice and Contact Lens Clinic at the University of Houston, College of Optometry for 2 years.
Dr. Lovero spends his time with his husband, their son Dylan, and their fur babies Milo & Coco. He can’t wait to have you as a patient and join the Montrose Eye Care family!
