It’s a beautiful world… if you can see it
According to the World Health Organization:
- Almost one billion people don’t have access to glasses
- 285 million people are affected by visual impairment
- 80% visual impairment is avoidable (can be prevented with eyeglasses or cured with surgery)
This means that 15% of the world’s population is unable to effectively learn or work because they can’t see clearly. When a pair of eyeglasses outlives its usefulness, please do not throw them away! There are many options for repurposing your unwanted pair of eyeglasses.
Dr. Lovero will bring your donated eyeglasses to people who need and can’t afford them on his future vision clinics with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). On his last clinic to Nicaragua, the team examined over 1300 patients in only 4 days! Follow Dr. Lovero and Montrose Eye Care on Instagram and Facebook @montroseeyecarehtx to see how your recycled eyeglasses help give the gift of vision!
Look at the line in Chinandega, Nicaragua before the vision team arrived!
Check out Dr. Lovero in action! He uses a retinoscope to shine light into a patient’s eye and observes the reflection (reflex) of the patient’s retina to determine the glasses prescription.
A portable slit lamp allowed Dr. Lovero to examine and provide treatment for eye diseases.
Dr. Lovero loves working with children!
All smiles with her new prescription. Next stop, selecting a frame to match her personality!
Thank you for all the donations! Keep them coming!
